After spending two days in Vancouver, John and I spent 10 days in the Palm Springs area. It was a great place to get over jetlag. How can you resist a city with a giant Marilyn Monroe statue?
And the desert is amazing - who knew there were so many different forms of cacti? We did some hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. This is a Cholla Cactus Garden in the park.
Alex came home from London for Christmas, which was lovely. And after Christmas, we all went to Lake Wenatchee where they had just had 2 feet of snow in 2 days. Nicole and family had to evacuate their house in the park because so many trees were coming down. To this day, they still don't have Internet service as a result. But snow is still fun and we found some sledding hills for the kids to play on.
Here's the entire group.
After Lake Wenatchee, most of us spent 2 days in Seattle, spending Christmas and birthday money. Here's a picture of the first Starbucks for Nena. And yes, there are 2 Starbucks in the mall across the street from my condo.
And then Liz and Erik drove home, I flew back to Cebu, Alex flew back to London, and John and Laura drove back to Victoria.
